Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has apparently deactivated his X account after being criticized and dropped by Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho, 20, was completely left out for the derby win against Manchester City last month, alongside Marcus Rashford, and has been on the bench for the last four games.
Mail Sport exclusively revealed that he appeared to turn his back on Amorim and walk away while receiving instructions before coming on against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League just three days before the trip to the Etihad.
Garnacho's representatives denied he was disrespectful and put the matter down to a misunderstanding, while United sources insisted there was no division.
But the decision to freeze him has raised doubts about his suitability in Amorim's 3-4-3 system and his cameo displays have left supporters unimpressed.
He is set to play against Liverpool at Anfield this afternoon after returning to the starting line-up and coming on as a substitute in recent games, but appeared to have closed his official X account ahead of the showdown .
Indeed, a search for his profile now yields a blank page with the text: “This account does not exist.” His profile picture is also blank.
The reason behind Garnacho's decision is not yet known.
Garnacho found himself in hot water for his social media activities after liking two posts on X criticizing Erik ten Hag's dealings with the player last April.
After being sent off at half-time during United's 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, Garnacho liked two posts on YouTuber Mark Goldbridge's site.
One read: 'Ten Hag subtly blames Garnacho in the post-match press conference… it's not right to throw under the bus a 19-year-old who has actually performed for you this season. But he is clearly afraid of upsetting the bigger earners.”
The other added that Garnacho “had a bad first half but took him off at half-time and stopped him because the problem is a joke.”
Garnacho quickly disliked both messages and was confronted by Ten Hag, and United said the matter had been handled internally.
The youngster, meanwhile, has been fired a warning shot by Graeme Souness, who believes he will not fulfill his potential unless he changes his attitude.
Souness wrote for Mail Sport: 'I hear Alejandro Garnacho is not happy with the manager. Can anyone remind me who he is?
“The last time I looked, he was just a twenty-year-old boy. Someone who is just one step higher, on a ladder with ten rungs. Who are you?
'He behaves like a 'wrong one' on the football field and unless he changes he has no chance of realizing his obvious potential.'
