Gary Neville insists Trent Alexander-Arnold would NOT start for Real Madrid

Gary Neville has claimed that Trent Alexander-Arnold would not start with Real Madrid, because the Liverpool star approaches a stunning step to the Spanish giants.

On Tuesday, Mail Sport reported that Los Blancos is confident to sign Alexander-Arnold this summer-with sources in Spain that suggest that the move is close by.

With the defender in contract in the summer – in addition to Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah – he was constantly associated with the Spanish giants.

However, since Alexander-Arnold is approaching a move to Madrid, the former man United defender Neville claimed that there is already a 'better full-back' on the Spanish side.

Speaking on the stick to the football podcast, you offered by sky bet, he said: 'I said I thought he was [Trent Alexander-Arnold] Had to become more serious about his defense – I said it is constant – otherwise it will cause him problems.

“I think it will cause him a problem at Real Madrid because they have Federico Valverde, who is currently playing right back, and Dani Carvajal when he is going back has a serious competition.”

Neville was asked if he felt that both Valverde and Carvajal were better than the English international, on which he said: 'I think Carvajal, from a balance of Vooruit and Back.

'The problem is that he is 32 and has had a bad injury for me, Carvajal is a better full-back than Trent because of what he gives to the team.

'It is incredible what Valverde is doing for them at the moment, so he will have competition when he goes.

“Coming back to Trent, I said he had to become more serious about his defense, and that was proven by the fact that he could not get to the English team for many years, and he gets a lot for Liverpool.

“I have never known a right back that there is so often immersed in important periods of competitions.”

The news that Alexander-Arnold is close to a move to Madrid sent social media in a razoria, where a fan brought their protests to a whole new level.

There was a clip on X that showed a supporter who burned the back of a shirt from Alexander-Arnold and proudly held against the camera.

Neville thought about how fans of Liverpool will feel in the direction of their own star of their own soil and say: 'As a fan, he is a local child and fans have the right to feel like that.

'I also think about it with my David Beckham Cap, to think about what career he had when he went to Real Madrid, and then Milan, and he had the experiences that he led to what he has done since then.

“He wouldn't have had that if he were to stay in United, so some of me think that since I stopped playing football, I think differently.

“The experience to go to Real Madrid and playing there is incredible for him.”
