Gary Neville believes that the name of Liverpool is already engraved in the Premier League trophy after giving a “painful” prediction.
The Reds are clearly at the top of the table after beating Southampton in Anfield, where Arsenal is held on weekends by Manchester United. It goes a dramatic collapse on the part of Arne Slot – and a huge solution in the results of Arsenal – to let Liverpool slide through their fingers.
The pressure could rise in the coming weeks, because the Premier League obligations of Liverpool are made on a break. But United Icon Neville believes that this can only benefit and thinks it is only a matter of time before the trophy around Anfield is paraded.
“I think it will be positive for Liverpool who has these big games, they don't have time to stop and think,” he said. “They will not be complacent in the competition, but they have this. This title is in the hands.
“When it is 1-1 (for Arsenal), they not only have one hand on the trophy, the ribbons and the colors are changed as we speak and the engraver starts to put the first 'l' on the trophy, which is a painful thought. The title of the Premier League is solid for Liverpool.
“Winning the title is great. We know that winning the Champions League is great for Liverpool, but we know that winning titles is your bread and butter.
“To get a level with United on titles, to be 20-20, and to win a title in the first season of Arne Slot, I think that for those players such as Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, who will win a second title …
“Winning two titles and you start to come to a serious level of player. I think they will be so focused. '
While Neville predicts that Liverpool will roast their title profit next month, there would still be six results to complete the title in his earliest stage. The side of Slot needs only a maximum of five victories to be confirmed as champions.
But it may not even cost that much. Liverpool will be confirmed as champions on 12 April if they beat Everton and Fulham. But to do that, they have to hope that Arsenal loses from their London rivals Chelsea, Fulham and then Everton. If the Gunners also fall to Brentford in their next game, Liverpool is confirmed for the second time as Premier League champions.
