Gary Neville: Man Utd need five new signings to suit Ruben Amorim’s system

Gary Neville says that Manchester United needs five new signing sessions for the Ruben Amorim system.

United is 13th in the Premier League after Sunday at home with 0-0 to Manchester City, after they have won only two of their last eight league games.

Amorim has been kept on his favorite 3-4-3 formation with various success after signing left-wing-back Patrick Dorgu in a £ 30 million deal from Lecce during the winter transfer window but Neville of Sky Sports believes they need many more additions.

“From a united perspective I get why [Amorim’s] Deep disappearing, I get why he went back in a layer of block, “said Neville.” But that is what we have seen from Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag.

“They all came in with the intention of playing high-press, energetic football, but all go back to a low block in large matches.

“I understand why Ruben Amorim did that today, with the players he has, because he doesn't have the players to adjust. They immediately need five new players before you even think about it.

“The three in the front are not good enough and the two wing backs, they are not good enough. They need five players. They have to serve him with five players who are good enough in this system to be able to play his system the way he wants.”
