Gary Neville reveals his meagre 1st Man United contract under Sir Alex Ferguson

Gary Neville has revealed how small his first contract from Manchester United was under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The legendary right back joined the Red Devils as a student after leaving the school at the age of 16, and made 602 senior performances – the fifth most in club history.

Neville debuted his first team debut in September 1992, before his disciplined, grim professionalism gave him the role of United's starting against the 1994-95 season. And the rest was history.

But for that, Neville, just like every Academy star who earned his call to the major competitions, had to give a modest professional contract of the first professional.

The expert explained that he and eight other players got the same little deal when she first signed.

'In Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson gave us all the same [first professional] contract. It was all the same, “said Neville, speaking on the stick to the football podcast, offered you by Sky Bet.

“He gave us a sign of £ 4000, £ 210 per week year one, £ 230 a week two, £ 250 a week three and £ 270 a week four.”

Neville added: “We all have a Honda Prelude and all had the same contract – there were eight of us.”

Neville further explained that he wisely used his first contract to step on the real estate ladder.

His first property led him £ 160,000, for which he had to cough up a deposit of 10 percent.

'Your own house is the best investment [you could make]'Neville continued.

'When I got money with my first contract [Manchester] United, I bought a house. That was huge – it was a house that cost £ 160,000 and I laid £ 16,000 as a down payment, and the moment I took a big risk. '

“So you actually save yourself for this registration of the reimbursement, and then you put it in a house, and you think,” Exactly, I have to pay the mortgage for four years “.”
