Gary Neville slams Man United for ‘being outrun every single week’

Gary Neville has criticized Manchester United for being 'outrun every week'.

Ruben Amorim's side suffered a second defeat in a row when they lost 3-2 at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

Amorim has frequently changed his starting lineups during his five games in charge, with former United defender Neville suggesting the manager should decide on his first-choice team.

Neville indicated that Amorim should follow the example of Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, who has a more established starting line-up.

Speaking on NBC Sports, Neville said: 'If you keep changing players and you keep changing your back three and you remove five players, you're basically saying goodbye to them all because they're obviously removed at the start of the game. the game, that you don't trust them.

'Ten Hag continued to do that a few weeks ago, when he kept changing the back players, changing the midfield. Suddenly you have a completely different system, a completely different group of players on the field at the end of the match. You can never achieve consistency.”

'It looked really dirty. They ended up looking a shambles, United with no real form. They weren't brilliant in the first half, but at least they had form.

'Choose an XI that you think is the best. Almost give that XI faith and trust. Maresca does it now at Chelsea: he plays against an XI on Sunday or Saturday and then he plays against another XI during the week.

“He is sending some messages to the players that there is stability here and this is what we are going to do. If you're constantly switching players, you're just spinning boards and there's no consistency. You have to build patterns together. You have to build that idea of what you're doing together.”

“No good team is ever a good team without hard work. Manchester United are thirteenth in the league. Their running stats and distance traveled are 16th in the league. You don't earn anything if you're avoided every week.'

Fellow former United defender Rio Ferdinand branded the result against Forest a 'mess'.

Ex-United goalkeeper Tim Howard also criticized Amorim's changes, including making changes to the defense and withdrawing Bruno Fernandes.

Howard said, “This was hard. I just think what's going on, the replacements for me, similar replacements. If you swap two of your back three in the 65th minute, there must be other issues that need to be changed and resolved.

'Sometimes you have to let players suffer a little. If you take a player off the field, you can almost throw him off his game. You have ideas you want to convey, let them play through them. It shows what a long-term project this is.

'In 18 months' time, when I think United will be at their best, it won't look like that anymore. There won't be that many of these players.'

Nikola Milenkovic gave Forest an early lead, before Rasmus Hojlund equalized for United.

Goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood allowed Forest to take control of the match before Fernandes scored for United, but it was not enough to prevent another defeat.
