Gary Neville slams Manchester United’s squad and recruitment

Gary Neville has criticized Manchester United in the midst of the 1-0 loss of the Red Devils in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

The former star of England has revealed his thoughts that only one player from Old Trafford would come to the best team of Spurs.

It comes after Ruben Amorim's side has endured their 12th Premier League defeat this season and eventually dropped to 15th place with only 29 points.

United has recorded both strikers that have been criticized for lack of goals in the team – Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund – but still saw the midfielder James Maddison of Spurson the only goal of the game in the 19th minute.

With various injured midfielders in the team, such as Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Christian Eriksen, the Portuguese were forced to drop team captain Bruno Fernandes in an unusual deep position, alongside former Real Madrid Star Casemiro, who saw his first start since December.

However, it was Fernandes who emphasized Neville as the only player who fitted in Tottenham's best XI during his analysis after the competition for Sky Sports.

He said: 'How many united players would come in that Spurs team if everyone was fit? I think Bruno. Maybe Amad, but I would probably take Kulusevski.

'Every Tottenham player who stays one is better than every player of a single man. That is not emotional, we have passed by now, it is just very sad. That is where Man is United.

'It's what happens to players when they arrive here. We have seen players go the other way and thrive. '

The disappointing defeat in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium marked Amorim's ninth since his arrival in Old Trafford, in addition to 10 victories and two draws over all competitions.

His team went in the collision of Sunday in various important players and called seven teenagers from the Academy.

However, they only made one replacement in the extra time of the second half, when the 17-year-old Chido Obi made his debut for the senior team, to replace Casemiro, which was previously booked.

Colleague presenter Jamie Redknapp added: 'They need 7/8 players to change. We all thought that Ten Hag had no idea and I am sure this manager probably thought so.

'They have to bring in better players. That is not the core of a team that will compete. If you look at Arsenal City, Liverpool … they are miles ahead.

“They have spent fortunes. But if your recruitment is wrong and brought in your 30-year-old on four of the five-year contracts, it will never work.

“They have to change now. I watched the subs today and I actually felt sorry for him. He did not have the staff to get the result he wanted. '

Some players from United, including Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans, continue to work on a return, while Lisandro Martinez will miss the rest of the season because of an ACL injury.

The Red Devils are planned to get Everton in Goodison Park in their next Premier League match on Saturday.
