Germany call up Bisseck for Nations League clash with Italy

Yann Bisseck has received his first senior Germany call-up, while Leon Goretzka has been recalled for the quarterfinals collision of the Nations League with Italy.

The side of Julian Nagelsmann travel to San Siro to face the Azzurri in the first stage on March 20, before they welcomed the Iduna Park three days later to signal Iduna Park.

Inter -defender Bisseck received the nod from Nagelsmann after a solid season with the Nerazzurri, for whom he has made 29 performances in all competitions and helped the Summit Serie.

In the meantime, Bayern midfielder Goretzka returns to the team for the first time since November 2023, and Nadiem Amiri is back after a four-year absence, who is impressed by Mainz.

Borussia Dortmund Vooruit Karim Adeyemi is also recalled, together with David Raum and the Stuttgart trio of Deniz Undav, Angelo Stiller and Jamie Leweling.

However, Florian Wirtz, Kai Havertz and Aleksandar Pavlovic are absent due to injuries, while Serge Gnobry, Julian Brandt and Robin Gosens also miss.

“Although we have our heads with some absences, we generally have a very good team,” said Nagelsmann.

“We chose these players out of conviction and tried to replace the lack of quality with quality, by players who want to play.

“The quarterfinals against Italy is very important to us. These are two games that we absolutely have to and want to play.”
