UFC -Superster Conor McGregor confirmed rumors that he is planning a return to the Octagon in 2026.
More than four years since the last UFC performance by Conor McGregor, the former Tweedivisie title holder remains one of the biggest storylines of modern MMA.
McGregor, who has not fought since he injured his leg against Dustin Poirier on UFC 264, has repeatedly plagued a fighting comeback in recent years. He was supposed to fight Michael Chandler on UFC 303 before he withdrew because of injury.
Almost a full year since its UFC 303 reduction, McGregor Flip-Flopt is on a potential return to the cage. But after the recent announcement by US President Donald Trump, McGregor seems more motivated than ever to plot a comeback.

Conor McGregor responds to the claims of BKFC's David Feldman about UFC Comeback plans
President Trump raised eyebrows during a recent meeting when he announced that the UFC is planning to organize an event on the White House Gazon in 2026 to celebrate the 250 -year anniversary of the United States of the country's independence. Many top names have shown a deep interest to fight on the map almost a full year away from the intended event.
UFC CEO Dana White has big plans for the unprecedented map, after recently promised to make a larger card than his event in the Las Vegas Sphere last year. Afterwards McGregor shared a reaction of three words that refers to his interest in fighting, but did not seem to be fully committed to the idea of returning.
Bare Knuckle FC President David Feldman made it earlier this week when he claimed that McGregor told him in a private conversation that he is planning a UFC decay.
During a recent interview with the SchMO, McGregor responded to the recent statements by Feldman that he is back in the UFC test pool and is preparing to go all-in on an MMA-Comeback.
“I'm going home, go down the head, rest. They test me, I'm in the pool!” Explained McGregor.
“So get ready! And stay ready, because damage will be done! Oval Office, Garden of the White House!”
At the moment, McGregor's return to the UFC test pool remains uncertain despite its last claims. McGregor did not submit a test in 2025 that could influence its targeted return in July.
McGregor's comments come only a few days after he gave White and the UFC an ultimatum with regard to a potentially comeback fight. He was committed to a UFC Comback if the promotion signed his young teammate, Lee Hammond, for a contract.
Jon Jones and Conor McGregor were able to head the same card in 2026
McGregor and former UFC heavyweight Jon Jones both seem ready to retire to fight on the historical map. Jones, who announced his retirement only a few weeks ago, shared his plans to return to the Octagon almost immediately after President Trump's announcement.
Jones was stripped of the UFC heavyweight title after his retirement, and Tom Aspinall was promoted to the undisputed heavyweight title holder of the UFC. Asinall is expected to return to the Octagon for his first undisputed title defense later this year.
McGregor and Jones, two of the largest pay-per-view assets in the UFC, can compile the UFC Witte Huis card in 2026. In the coming months a lot will tell about whether or not both fighters are serious about their intended comebacks.
