The future of Gianluigi Donnarumma (25) at Paris Saint-Germain has been up in the air for some time. The arrival of Matvei Safonov seemed to threaten his position as undisputed number 1, and in certain matches this season, including in the UEFA Champions League, the Russian played in his place. Sports Zone also understands that a transfer for Lucas Chevalier from Lille OSC is in the works.
It is in this context, with Donnarumma's position in the starting XI being questioned, that the Italian's agent is casting further doubt on his future at PSG. “His future at PSG? We are in a period of reflection. We'll see. Anything can happen. Now we are ready for contract talks,” his agent Enzo Raiola said last month.
However, in a post-match interview with Sky Italia following Les Parisiens' 4-2 win over Manchester City, Donnarumma tried to make his intentions clear. “There are so many rumors. The truth is that I feel good here and everyone likes me and respects me. I feel very good, I am in the right place and my priority is to extend my contract here,” said Italy's number 1.
Donnarumma's current contract with the reigning Ligue 1 champions runs until the summer of 2026. He wants to stay, now the question is whether PSG wants to keep him beyond his current contract.
