Italy No. 1 is connected to movements at Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea this summer, and he has now confirmed that he will leave PSG
Gianluigi Donnarumma has announced that he is leaving Paris Saint-Germain while the Italian goalkeeper focused on Boss Luis Enrique.
DONNARUMMA – A European champion at Italy in 2021 and a Champions League winner with PSG in May – was involved in a contractual dispute with the French club last season, and with only a year about his deal, PSG will now try to sell him to the Premier League.
Chelsea and both Manchester clubs were associated with a move for the 26-year-old, and on Tuesday evening he announced that he would leave the French capital in a fiery statement on Instagram.
“On the special Parisian fans, from the first day I arrived, I gave everything to earn my place and to defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain next to the field.
“Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the success of the team.
“I am disappointed and discouraged. I hope to get the chance to look at the fans again at the Parc des Princes and say goodbye as it should be done.
“If that doesn't happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world for me, and I will never forget. I will always take the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights and of you, who felt at home.
“To my teammates – my second family – thanks for every fight, every smile, every moment we shared. You will always be my brothers. Playing for this club and living in this city has been a huge honor. Thanks, Paris.”
Enrique had previously confirmed that he had left Donnarumma from his team for the European Super Cup collision on Wednesday evening with Tottenham in Udine.
“Donnarumma is out of the team because it is my own decision. I am 100 percent responsible,” said Enrique. “I want a different kind of keeper and I have made this decision. Gigio is one of the best keepers in the world.
“The life of a football player at the highest level, and the same applies to our coaches, is this: it was not an easy decision, but I take full responsibility for it. On the other hand, if these choices were easy, everyone could make them.”
