MONACO star Wilfried Singo has insisted his sickening on-pitch clash with Gianluigi Donnarumma was an accident.
The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper suffered horrific facial injuries on Wednesday after being kicked in the face by the Monaco defender.
Donnarumma was forced off in the 22nd minute of PSG's Ligue 1 match at Stade Louis II.
The 25-year-old dived at Singo's feet during the top match.
Despite the brave stop, Donnarumma moved into second place when Singo's boot landed firmly on his cheek.
The Italian required lengthy treatment, with blood streaming down his face from a huge cut.
According to French newspaper RMC Sport, he later needed ten staples to treat deep cuts on his right cheek.
Donnarumma protested to referee Francois Letexier at half-time after Singo was not booked for the challenge.
The defender was already on a yellow card at the time, with the collision being deemed an accident by the referees.
After the match, Singo took to social media and wrote messages in both French and Italian.

He wrote: “My gesture was clearly not intentional, but I could see afterwards that he had a significant injury to his face.
“I wish you a good recovery.”
Donnarumma later informed concerned fans via his Instagram page.
Wearing bandages and cuddling his dog, the Italian gave a thumbs up to the camera as he lounged on his couch.
After Donnarumma's injury, PSG fought back from 2-1 down to record an impressive 4-2 victory.
An Ousmane Dembélé brace turned the match on its head after Monaco came out firing after the break.
The victory extends the lead at the top of Ligue 1 over Marseille to ten points, with Monaco back in third place.
Donnarumma joined PSG in 2021 after starting his career at AC Milan.
He took the No. 1 jersey at San Siro as a teenager and played more than 200 games for the Rossoneri.
This season, the Italian has made 15 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions, keeping four clean sheets.
