Olivier Giroud says he wants to “keep playing to win”, while the FC FC Los Angeles seems to start ahead after a challenging start of life in America.
The World Cup winner – and the most important scorer of France – made the switch to MLS in July after his departure from AC Milan.
However, Giroud has difficulty getting the ground in the United States – both on and outside the field.
After not scoring in one of his first 11 ml performances, the 38-year-old experienced an earthquake during a training session, while he and his family also had to contend with the devastating forest fires that had struck the larger area in Los Angeles, along with A burglary at their house.
Nevertheless, he remains happy that things will turn around on both fronts.
“It reminds me a bit of London,” Giroud said about Los Angeles. “I lived in London for nine years and I really enjoy this city. You can do a lot of things with the family. Plus, you have the ocean side, which is really fun.
“It is sunny almost every day. You feel far from home, like on vacation every day. It is not yet a vacation time, but maybe in a few years. I am really here to bring my experience to the team and to keep playing To win.
“Since I arrived in LA last summer, we had three power outages in five days of ten, 12 and 15 hours. There was a huge earthquake when we were on the training ground. There were all the fires. It was a really sad situation.
“Hopefully there will be better days in advance. It is part of life. Sometimes you have great days and sometimes difficult moments. It was a desire to end up here in the US and to give this chance to my children to another Discover the way of life. “
Giroud will be back in action on Saturday, when Lafc, who defeated Minnesota United 1-0 in their opening match of the Stadium 2025, Welcome New York City at BMO Stadium.
