Grealish names celebrity that left him ‘starstruck’ and unlikely friendship

Jack Grealish has made the surprising revelation that music icon Elton John is 'calling him to catch up'.

The Manchester City star opened up about his unlikely friendship with the singer, who is honorary chairman of Watford.

When asked by TNT Sports who his most famous phone contact is, Grealish replied: 'Probably Elton John. He calls me sometimes to catch up and see how I'm doing.”

Grealish also admitted he was impressed when he met Rihanna during City's pre-season US tour in the summer.

Asked if he has ever been 'starstruck', Grealish replied: 'Yes actually in the summer when I met Rihanna on the pre-season tour after we played AC Milan.

'I got quite nervous, I didn't really know what to say or how to approach her.'

In an interview four years ago, Grealish had admitted that he wanted to meet Rihanna 'Because she is beautiful and I like her music'.

Grealish added that team-mate Erling Haaland is a 'bit of a wind-up' in the dressing room, with the two playing pranks on teammates.

Asked what Haaland is like, Grealish said: “A bit of an excitement. I think I could have helped him with that. We both have the same kind of jokes and we both like to turn people on.”

Grealish also revealed that his former Aston Villa teammate John McGinn is a footballer who is always rooting for him.

Grealish said: “John McGinn, for sure. He always answers the phone or always calls me.'

The England international further stated that he has not had a haircut in four months.

He said: 'To be honest I haven't had one done for four months, I've only had the bottom done but I'm not really growing it. I haven't had one for four months now, but when I go to the hairdresser I usually have one once a week or two weeks.'

Furthermore, Grealish stated that the DJ he would most like to work with is Porter. Grealish added that he is in charge of the music in the dressing room and often plays house music and Afrobeats.

Grealish, who started for City against his former club Villa on Saturday, is still waiting for his first Premier League goal of the season.
