
A man was arrested and charged after Jack Grealisk was reportedly beaten by a fan in the Manchester Derby.
The midfielder of the city ran after the 0-0 draw from the field of the field when he was used to by a member of the crowd next to the tunnel, at the bottom of the Stretford end.
In shocking scenes, Grealisk was subsequently attacked – activating a police investigation.
A 20-year-old man was then accused of abuse and will appear before Manchester Magistrates in July.
Grealish, 29, is not supposed to have been seriously injured after the attack. He came up for Ilkay Gundogan in the 74th minute.
Both City and United refused to comment thanks to the live investigation. United is supposed to work closely with the police.
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester police said: “Alfie Holt, 20, of Haven Drive, Droylsden, is accused of abuse. He will appear at the Manchester court.
“This indictment relates to an incident that took place yesterday in the Old Trafford Football Club.”
The incident came at the end of a boring competition in which Phil Foden of the city was ruthlessly taunted by home fans.
After the game, city boss Pep Guardiola said that deviating hymns about the family of the English playmaker 'a lack of class' showed.
