Mason Greenwood is enthusiastic about a return to the Premier League and believes that people 'have moved' from the controversy that his exit has knocked down, claimed a report.
The 23-year-old, whose last game came to the top flight in January 2022, reportedly put 'a string' of top clubs on notification after he enjoyed a productive campaign in Ligue 1 with Marseille.
Greenwood completed a transfer of £ 27 million to the French giants last summer and ended a 17-year-old association with Manchester United after he was arrested before he was accused of attempted rape, abuse and controlling and compulsive behavior.
The charges against Greenwood were withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service after the 'withdrawal of important witnesses and new material that comes to light'.
The attacker spent a season in Laliga before he signed for Marseille under former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi. Despite the score of 19 goals in all competitions, Greenwood sometimes did not meet the requirements of the Italian and was dropped last month for a lack of work percentage.
According to the Sun, the former international in England is ready to end his time from the UK and 'yearn' with a return to the Premier League.
The outlet quotes a source that claims that the player and his partner Harriet Robson – with whom he shares two young daughters – initially 'loved' the anonymity that came with being abroad and 'rebuilt their lives' in Madrid.
“He loved the fact that he could just play football and his life outside the field was not the subject of such an intense focus,” the source told the outlet.
After almost two years abroad, however, it is said that the 'novelty' has left, with the 'introvert' Greenwood missing his family and friends at home.
It is also claimed that Greenwood believes that the 'vitriol' was 'died' in 2022 because people have 'moved', which makes a return to the northwest possible.
Earlier this month, the Zerbi unveiled some of the secrets behind the recent Revival of Greenwood in Vorm. After reporting his lack of effort, Fuming Marseille fans unfolded a banner in the north side of the Orange Velodrome, which called Greenwood and teammate Luis Henrique.
The banner was: “Greenwood, Henrique, get moving !!!”
The Zerbi also revealed that he worked together with Greenwood's father to help his development – but insisted that the attacker was still a bit of his potential. “
“He is an introverted person, a bit closed, but he has a great family around him, an extraordinary father with whom I have worked a lot, he helped me a lot to manage him, with the help of Mehdi Benatia.
'It is true that he sometimes gives us the impression that he can score three or four goals per game, and sometimes that he wastes a bit of his potential and value.
“So how can we help him? Well, sometimes by hugging him, by taking care of him and sometimes also by being harder, so that he continues his progression.
“This is the main objective that I have with all my players, beyond everyone we can have with the club, because if I make my players progress, we can achieve the goals of the club faster.”
After leaving the Red Devils, Greenwood formally applied to change his international loyalty of England, for whom he made one outing, to Jamaica from Steve Mclararen.
