Pep Guardiola expects both Ederson and Stefan Ortega to remain in Manchester City, while trying in the interest of the club in Joan Garcia from Espanyol.
Ederson was associated last year with a move to the Saudi Pro League, but strived to stay in the city after conversations with Guardiola until 2024-25.
Last season he made 37 performances in all competitions, kept 12 clean sheets, with 10 in the Premier League.
The Brazilian had a savings percentage of 67.1% (54 saves of 79 shots on goal -oriented) and gave 26 goals.
However, Ederson only has 12 months on his current contract, just like Stefan Ortega.
He only made 13 league games and held three clean sheets, with his savings percentage at 64.7%.
Although their contracts come to an end, Guardiola seems to be happy with the goalkeeper situation in City.
“We talked about the situation with regard to the planning of Squad, and the two keepers we have will continue,” Guardiola told reporters during a golf event in Catalonia on Monday.
City is linked to a new keeper, including Garcia, as well as Porto's Diogo Costa.
Garcia made the most saves in LaLiga in 2024-25 (146), while only Unai Simon (77.4%) and Jan Oblak (74.1%) had a better savings percentage among keepers who played more than 20 games than the 24-year-old (73.7%).
Guardiola wiped all the links to Garcia, although he spoke very much about his quality.
“Joan Garcia is really a good keeper, but City is connected to 500 players in every transfer window,” Guardiola added.
“He is an Espanyol player and I don't know what's happening, but I was told by the Espanyol boys [playing in the golf event] He is an extraordinary keeper. The references we have are very good. “
