Pep Guardiola has given one of his players a public apology about a lack of playing time this season, and admits that he deserves more minutes on the field.
Manchester City has one of the deepest squadrons in Europe, which means that players are never guaranteed regular action – even if they are attributed with a good price tag.
The player in question has fallen victim to the power of City in figures, only starts 12 games and registers this period for only 1,198 minutes.
A winger of trade, he has recently seen Guardiola opt for more youthful options, with exciting talents Jeremy Doku and Savinho who often get the nod.
And despite his price tag of £ 100 million, Jack Grealisk has recently brought a lot of his time to the sidelines – something that Guardiola feels, an injustice is the enormous power of the player.
“I'm very sorry that he doesn't get the minutes he might have earned,” said the city manager.
'But in the end the contributions of Jeremy (Doku) or Savinho were enormous this season, that is the only reason for that.
“It's nothing personal, or I don't like Jack or have no faith in him.”
Grealisk has fallen out of grace in Man City since the summer arrival of the Brazilian star Savinho, who previously tore Laliga during the astonishing 2023/24 season of Girona – so that the club for the first time in their history for the first time in their History Champions League for the first time -became football.
Although the Savinho output has not been particularly remarkable when consulting the statistics – only scoring once and helping six in 19 competitions – it is his work in the structure and defensive efforts that have been noticed in Guardiola, often with the help of his skills And pace to break to break the lines and fashion options.
In just 20 years old, Guardiola would like to invest the playing time in Savinho, see heaven as the limit for the wing player.
However, this is at the expense of Grealish, now 29, who would expect regular minutes in this phase of his career.
Guardiola remains aware of the threat that Grealisk can pose, but has shown no signs to bring it back into the starting fold before Savinho.
“If you give one player more minutes than the other, you clearly have more confidence than he,” Guardiola added. “But I know his qualities, it's just about the impact that Savinho has.
'It is (Savinho's) first season, his influence in goals and assists brought an incredible improvement in the defense and in tackles in the last match in Arsenal. And that is the reason for that. '
Grealisk has made 148 performances for Man City since his summer arrival in 2021 – but in a similar vein de Savinho has signed his output criticssm.
The Engelsman has only delivered 16 goals and provided 23 assists during his almost four -year -old Stint at Etihad – a record that many fans do not think that he is coming close to reflecting his price tag.
