Guardiola reiterates promise to stay even if 115 charges hearing relegates club

Pep Guardiola has reiterated his pledge to stay at Manchester City even if the club are relegated as punishment for their alleged breach of Premier League financial rules.

Guardiola this week signed a new two-year contract to extend his stay as City manager to more than a decade, ending speculation over his current contract, which is due to expire at the end of the season.

The 53-year-old has won 18 trophies at the Etihad, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League, but is facing his toughest period after losing four games in a row.

A hearing is also underway into Man City's 115 charges for allegedly breaching Premier League rules, but Guardiola insists he will remain at the club regardless of the outcome.

“You have my interviews here saying the same thing, so not because I'm now extending the contract and pretending 'Oh, how nice is Pep?'” Guardiola said on Saturday ahead of Man City's match against Tottenham, live on Sky Sports . .

“I said six months ago, a year ago, when all the clubs accused us of doing something: what would happen if you were relegated? I will be here. I don't know what position the Conference will have that they will bring us .” We come on, we come back to the Premier League. I knew it then, I feel it now.”
