Manchester City continues to pass their most difficult season since the arrival of Pep Guardiola, and demonstrably since Roberto Mancini took the lead. Their spiral started with the cruciate ligament injury to Rodri Hernandez, with the Ballon d'Or winner excluded from all probability for the rest of the season.
Former Real Madrid and Chelsea -Man Mateo Kovacic has made his best impression of the Spain International and despite the fact that he spent large in the January transfer window, City did not have replaced Rodri. Coupled to Bruno Guimaraes and Martin Zubimendi, were both excluded as potential options in the winter transfer window.
Guardiola, however, tried to move for a replacement – and insured the green light of the player. Sport has revealed that shortly after the injury of Rodri, Guardiola personally the former Barcelona star and Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets called to see if he would like to enter the rest of the season.
Initially, Busquets agreed to do this, but after a while thinking about the idea, he decided against the move and continued with Inter Miami. Since then, City has spent a big way to Abdukodir Khusanov, Vorror Reis and Omar Marmoush, and they are linked to people like Ederson Dos Santos in Atalanta or Douglas Luiz in Juventus.
Busquets, now 36, has been to Miami for the past 18 months since he left Barcelona as a captain. Rodri was the player to take the reins of Busquets for Spain and to help them to Euro 2024 Glory. While Busquets struggled to defend large spaces towards the end of the Barcelona era, he still had a razor -sharp mind, and his capacity on the ball was clear in his absence for the Blaugrana last year. It would certainly have been fascinating to see him in the Premier League, even beyond his peak.
