A surprise was received in the Spanish capital that Turkish talent Arda Guler was adamant to stay in the club when he arrived. Tipped on a large scale for a loan movement to continue his development, the teenage talent then supported himself to get playing time under Carlo Ancelotti.
The first six months of his Real Madrid career were determined by injuries, because several individual problems kept them up, but even when he had recovered, he saw little playing time. Towards the end of the last campaign, however, it seemed that things had finally clicked with Ancelotti, and he showed moments of sparkle in the last phases of La Liga.
This year he was expected to get an even greater role, but the reality has been different and his start against Real Sociedad was only his second performance in eight games, both in the Copa del Rey. It wore him about 1000 minutes, and although he has three goals and five assists in his 28 performances, his playing time has a lot of expectations.
Reports have recently emerged that Guler would be open to a loan room, but Relevanto has contradicted this information. According to their sources, Guler does not want to leave loan and will either stay in the club next season with a greater role, or he will leave a permanent deal. The 20-year-old is not going to spend another season warming up the bank.
His camp does not understand the lack of opportunities or continuity for Guler, and although it is his intention to stay and triumph in Real Madrid, he will be an important player next season: regardless of where it is. Ancelotti rejected a crime and noted that Guler goes for a young player for a normal process for a young player. He also emphatically noticed that “whoever doesn't understand, will have to do this,” which many would be a message to Guler's camp.
