Gullit criticizes former side, points to similarities from his tenure

Former Chelsea star and manager Ruud Gullit has offered a destructive assessment of his former side.

Gullit played for the blues between 1995 and 1998 and became player manager in 1996 when Glenn Hoddle left the club to take over from the English national team.

He took the blues to FA Cup Glory in 1997 – their first major trophy for 26 years – but was fired with the club second in the Premier League the following season and in the quarterfinals of two cup matches.

That was under former owner Ken Bates. Since then, the blues have undergone the Roman Abramovic era and they have started their newest ownership run under current Bazen Todd Boehly and Blueco.

But things are no different than 27 years ago, according to Gullit.

The Dutchman wrote in the sun and asked the current regime and called on the club to finally find an identity in an attempt to continue.

“Chelsea is still a bit of an enigma,” he started. 'I don't really know how good they are or how bad they are. They are a bit looking for their identity. They try to crawl up the table and maybe they are in the long term contenders for the title. But I don't know exactly where they are.

'People tell me that one of the problems with Chelsea is that they always change the manager – so tell me something new!

“I don't get it. I don't understand what they really want, really. Even if they are successful, they still dismiss you as a coach. So I don't know. That is why I say that Chelsea is still a mystery. I try to find out what they stand for, what is their philosophy and what is the football that they want we want to watch? '

The blues have fallen to sixth in the Premier League table with nine games left in the season, but have the chance to rise back to the fourth if they beat Tottenham on Thursday evening.

It looked like they could keep pace with Liverpool and Arsenal in the title race earlier in the season, but they fell off and have been in shape lately.

The jury is still on Enzo Maresca, who said that the Chelsea players received his message loudly and clearly after the Italian was so alerted by the bad standard in the training last week that he had canceled their day off.

In anticipation of Thursday's confrontation at Tottenham, an internal friendly friendship was organized between the stars from the first team that had not left for international service and a side that consisted of under the 21 years of the Academy.

The young people won 3-0 with the 19-year-old striker Donnell McNeilly who scored twice and Maresca reacted by withdrawing the first team the next morning to Cobham.

Jadon Sancho was one of those who were not called for England, and he has not scored since December 8 for Chelsea-De Last time they were facing Tottenham, a 4-3 road victory. Sancho was one of the new signing sessions that were warned by Maresca by telephone in the summer that if he didn't work well during the week, he would not play.
