Arsenal goes Mikel Arteta at the back of the summer transfer window and a new striker is at the top of the agenda, with people like Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak both connected
Arsenal is set to a huge summer in the transfer, because they hope to finally lift some silverware next season. The Gunners have not won a trophy since their FA Cup triumph in 2020 and did not succeed in taking advantage of the drop-off of Manchester City in shape.
Arsenal also fell short in the Champions League and was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals after a memorable victory over Real Madrid in the last 16. Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke, however, stated that the club is ready to invest “in the team this summer.
Offensive reinforcements are at the top of the Mikel Arteta shopping list, while Arsenal is convinced that a £ 51 million deal is already present for Martin Zubimendi after the real Sociedad Middendermen has made a move to Liverpool last summer.
With all this in mind, Mirror Football has taken a look at the biggest news and rumors of the Emirates …
Sesko talks
According to Sky Sports Germany, Arsenal is talking to RB Leipzig about a large money movement for striker Benjamin Sesko.
The report states that Leipzig is ready to cash in the 21-year-old after he has not qualified for the Champions League and the sports director of Arsenal, Andrea Berta, would have contacted his counterpart Marcel Schafer to discuss a deal.
It is claimed that the asking price of Leipzig is more than € 80 million (£ 67 million), but they are willing to negotiate the payment structure that the deal can make more affordable for the Gunners.
Isak warning
Another attacker that Arsenal is heavily connected is Alexander Isak from Newcastle, but they have been warned that closing a deal will not be easy.
“I think, you know, he is absolutely praised as a center ahead in Newcastle, so why would he want to go,” the former Premier League striker Teddy Sheringham told Prime Casino. “He may not want to change. It will not be much better than fans who love you, and your team plays to the best aspects of your game, and you are the center.
“You earn good money and you are in the team. You play at the highest level and players understand that you and your manager love you. So you know, you would be very surprised if he would like to go somewhere else at the moment.”
Arteta's transfer access
Arteta has revealed that Arsenal will sign a new striker this summer, although Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus will return from an injury next season.
Havertz can be ready to return for the last game of the season and to the question whether that could change the transfer plans of the club, Arteta replied: “What is clear with the amount of injuries we had in the front line is that we need a target threat.
“We need the firepower and understand that the context can change tomorrow. We can not only rely on the numbers we had earlier. We have to add goals, we have to add creativity, we must add numbers and that will be in different positions.”
