Arsenal reportedly agreed personal conditions with Viktor Gyokees, who responded to the speculation after he helped Sporting Lisbon to win the Primeira Liga title
Viktor Gyokeres broke his silence after Arsenal had made him their number 1 transfer goal. Gyokeres, 26, scored his 53rd goal of the season on Saturday to help the sporty Lisbon conquer the title Primeira Liga.
The Sweden International is strongly connected to a move to Arsenal and reports from Portugal claim that he has already agreed personal conditions with the Gunners. Mikel Arteta wants to sign a striker in the summer transfer window and Gyokeres is at the top of the wish list of Arsenal, who also includes RB Leisshot Benjamin Sesko.
Mirror Football reported earlier this week that the Gunners were told that gyokers is of them for £ 60 million, although they could experience competition from Manchester United. The former Coventry City and Brighton Striker is expected to play his last game for the Portuguese champions next Sunday when Sporting Face Rivals Benfica in the Interior Cup final.
Gyokees has remained cautious throughout the season and has regularly taken questions about his future. In the midst of the title celebrations of Sporting, he refused to be signed again and did not exclude it to stay in Lisbon for another season.
“It's football, I am still there,” the Swede told the sport TV via Record. “I don't know what will happen. Nobody can predict the future.”
His comments come after former Arsenal striker Julio Baptista revealed that the new sports director of the Gunners, Andrea Berta, had Gyokes 'On His Radar' in the former club Atletico Madrid. “The boy has incredible figures,” Baptista told Foot Italia.
“45 matches, 44 goals, 11 assists (now 51 games, 53 goals, 12 assists). Arsenal is one of the teams that are supposed to be really interested in him, and I can see why.
“I think the new sports director, Andrea Berta, really likes him; he was on his radar when he was the sporting director at Atletico Madrid.”
Should Arsenal Viktor Gyokeres sign? Say in the commentary part.
Sporty President Frederico Varandas has meanwhile become the speculation around Gyokeres tired of speculation. “Gyokees left in the summer, a year and a half ago, a year and a half ago … Gyokeres was going to leave anyway. We were champions and he was already leaving,” Varandas is quoted by a Bola in February.
“It was impossible in January and it stayed that way. I'm not going to add it, it's already very media drives and it's not worth talking about the summer market.”
Arsenal has a number of alternatives to Gyokeres, in which the 21-year-old Sesko is appreciated by Leipzig around the same price. Ipswich -striker Liam Delap would be a cheaper option thanks to its release clause of £ 30 million, while Newcastle -talisman Alexander Isak would be far too expensive if the gunners wanted to invest in other areas.
