‘Them legs aren’t working’… Jon Jones reacts to Mike Tyson’s loss to Jake Paul
Jon Jones spent the night before his first heavyweight title defense watching Mike Tyson return to the ring.
The legendary two-weight UFC champion knocked out Stipe Miocic on Saturday night at UFC 309, just hours after fellow icon Tyson lost to Jake Paul in Dallas. The bizarre double-header gave fight fans an exciting weekend of shows, with huge heavyweight action in the octagon and the ring.
And while Jones and Miocic put on an impressive performance at Madison Square Garden, the same cannot be said for Paul and Tyson. Fans were left frustrated as the YouTuber turned boxer took 'Iron Mike' to a close decision in eight rounds.
Jon Jones was disappointed to see Mike Tyson 'looking old' in the fight with Jake Paul
Despite being just hours away from one of the biggest nights of his career, Jon Jones managed to find time to catch Mike Tyson on his return to boxing. He was one of tens of millions who tuned into Netflix and was disappointed to see an aging, struggling Tyson.
“I lived through the fight,” Jones told the media after his victory in the world's most famous arena. “It was hard to see him so old. Roy Jones Jr kept saying, 'man, those legs don't work.' It was really hard to see.

“He really sold it with the highlight videos of his training and his physique… It was hard to watch, but I respect him so much for coming in there, that was the cool part. I'm sure they compensated him very well.
“He also had to give a bunch of fans what they wanted, which was to just live and watch him compete. And for that part alone, I thank him, and I'm sure many of us thank him.”
Mike Tyson's wardrobe malfunction threw Jon Jones into turmoil
One of the most viral moments of the night was when a camera lingered in the locker room just a little too long, leading to a hysterical slip from Tyson. After predicting a 'vicious win' in his final pre-fight interview, cameras panned out to see him reveal underwear that completely exposed his backside.

Thousands of fans on social media, including Conor McGregor, pointed out the hilarious blunder, with videos racking up millions of views. And Jones was no different, joking that he would rather not have seen such a spectacle on air.
“I wish he wouldn't have shown us his a**, that was a bit wild,” Jones joked during his recap of the event. “I was like, 'Mike, you didn't have to do that.' I bet Mike's a freak, Mike, you nasty old man. You old dirty bastard, you.
Jon Jones believes Jake Paul did not choose to ship Mike Tyson
Almost immediately after the fight, many fans were wondering whether or not Jake Paul had carried Mike Tyson throughout the later rounds. He quickly confirmed that he had indeed granted some mercy, although Jones isn't entirely convinced.

“I don't think Jake showed him any mercy,” Jones said in response to claims that he helped Tyson reach the final bell. “I think Jake played it smart and it is. I think Jake knows that 'you're winning, let's stop while you're ahead and let's swerve and get through this fight.'
“Because Mike can drop anyone with just one shot, his legs weren't working, but that upper body was still moving and those punches were still swinging and I didn't see it as Jake giving him mercy, Jake floated through that like an intelligent fighter would .”
