The preference of Viktor Gyokeres between Arsenal and Man United has been revealed, according to reports.
The sporty Lisbon striker has become one of Europe's most sought after stars after an excellent return of 42 goals in 42 performances in all competitions so far.
The Gunners are interested in signing an attacking option in the summer, while Ruben Amorim reportedly has a reunion with his former striker at United.
The two Premier League parties are considered the leaders in the race to sign Gyokeres – with a number of other clubs in Europe that also follows Gyokeres.
According to Portuguese Outlet A Bola, however, the Sweden International is a summer movement to North Londs over any other option.
The outlet claims that the Gunners are in the lead in the race to sign Gyokeres, with sporting willingness to listen to the desires of the player before they close a deal.
They even claim that Gyokees already has a shortlist of clubs where he would be interested in becoming a member and united, together with Amorim, are not on that list.
This is because the Swede likes to be a member of a side that plays in the Champions League – that United does not do.
The outlet suggest that, together with Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City are on the shortlist of the striker- with Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Bayern also in his mind.
Gyokeres is currently contracted to the Portuguese giants until 2028, with his release clause at £ 85 million.
It was recently reported that Arsenal has developed a strong interest in the sporty Lisbon star after the arrival of Andrea Berta as sports director.
The need of Arsenal for a striker has been all too clear this season, especially after injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
If available, Havertz often gave a good report of himself and this season contributed 15 goals in all competitions.
However, it is generally assumed that Arsenal needs an upgrade in advance to help them achieve success. Midfielder Mikel Merino filled in as a striker during the injury crisis of the club.
The Gunners are also interested in Newcastle Vooruit Alexander Isak, but signing him from the Magpies can turn out to be a difficult task.
In total, Gyokeres has scored 85 times in 92 games since he came to Sporting from Coventry in 2023.
His goals have seen him move to the top 20 goal scorers of Sporting in the history of the club, even though he had only joined the club in the summer of 2023.
He has scored a stunning 83 goals in 91 performances for the club since he came to Coventry in a relocation of £ 20 million.
