Erling Haaland has branded the season 'horrible', 'boring' and 'not nice' from Manchester City – but it insisted that the prospect of silverware proves this weekend that they will remain a colossus.
City goes to the FA Cup final with Crystal Palace knowing that the qualification of the Champions League is still not confirmed after the surprise of last Saturday's surprise in Southampton.
Haaland admitted that the hunger was missing in the Pep Guardiola team while they want to save something from the year.
“This season has been difficult,” said Haaland. 'It's not nice to lose so many games. It is boring and not fun. That's why we have to end well.
'We have the FA Cup final to play for and in a horrible season we still succeeded in doing this, that's what it all says.
“It's not good enough. We have not been there who fight in the Premier League or the Champions League and that is not good enough for a club like a city. You should be there and you have to compete.
'I don't know the answers to be honest, but sometimes you just have to run. You have to run more. We didn't run enough this season.
'You have to run more, you have to perform better, as a team you have to be more stable. You have to be more, find the Spirit. '
He added: “Everyone of us has not been good enough and we have not been to our best, so if you are not at your best, you will not win games in this country because it is so difficult.”
Haaland made his comeback from an ankle injury at St Mary's and claims to have boundless energy prior to the last three games of a debilitating season before the Club World Cup.
The 24-year-old believes that winning his second FA Cup would go a way to save the season, but is not sure if his teammates feel the same.
“It would help for me,” he added. “That's what I want. That's why I'm here. So it would certainly help. But again, the standards that these guys have set, maybe this means nothing for them because they have the standard so high. But it would certainly help for me.
'If you have won four competition titles in a row, if you don't win five, will not be a successful season.
'The bar is so high that this season is a catastrophic season that says it all. Next season we have to find something in our stomach again to attack the season. '
