Sarina Wiegman says that Hannah Hampton is “a bit forward” of counterpart Mary Earps, because the struggle to be the number one in England intensifies.
Earps has played a key role in recent years for the Lionesses, which was always present during their Euro 2022 success and walks to the World Cup Final 2023.
Hampton, however, has given preference in six of the 10 most recent matches of England – including each of their last three country competitions – while holding six clean sheets in her 13 caps.
And with the European Championship on the Horizon, Wiegman suggested that the goalkeeper of Chelsea is the leader who starts between the sticks when her side launches their title defense.
“I have two world class goalkeepers,” she said ITV. “At the moment, [Hannah] Is a bit ahead. “
Hampton has settled this season as the first cord stop of the blues and has only given 13 goals in 18 games in the Super League for women.

Former midfielder of England, Karen Carney, believes that the clarity about the situation will serve the lion ribbons well in the long term.
“You really hear keepers say that there must be a clear number one and perhaps Sarina Wiegman Hannah helps to prepare,” she said ITV.
“And Mary Earps also show that Hannah is for you, and this will happen at the tournament and prepare her for it.”
In the meantime, EARPs have only let in 12 goals in 17 premiere Ligue games for Paris Saint-Germain this period since he made the switch of Manchester United.
Former lionesses striker Ellen White feels that she can find it difficult to adapt to the falling of the pecking order.
