Ancelotti ‘is summoned to CRISIS talks by Real Madrid president Florentino’
Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly ready for crisis talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez following the club's difficult run of form.
Ancelotti, who is in his second spell with the Spanish giants, has won 14 trophies in 310 games with the club, including three Champions League titles.
Real won the league in 2023/24 but Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool left their hopes of defending the crown in doubt.
Los Blancos were outclassed at Anfield and now sit 24th in the league stage with two wins and three defeats from five games, meaning the club may fail to qualify for the knockout stages.
Real are also four points behind in LaLiga, where they have scored 14 fewer goals than arch-rivals Barcelona, despite boasting a mouth-watering array of attacking talent including Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jnr and Kylian Mbappe.
This has led to Ancelotti coming under pressure in his role, with the legendary Italian coach criticized for Real's problems this season.
And according to Marca, Ancelotti will hold personal talks with Perez before Sunday's LaLiga match against Getafe at the Bernabeu.
According to the report, the two regularly meet for discussions when Real are going through a difficult period, but given the club's worrying performances in recent times, these conversations have become increasingly important.
Ancelotti and Perez will discuss why they believe the team is struggling, while the meeting will also determine whether the Italian still has the club's full backing.
The report goes on to claim that Real's hierarchy feel Ancelotti's side are in their toughest period of the past five years and that Mbappe's penalty miss against Liverpool summed up their struggles.
However, it is acknowledged that Ancelotti is struggling with so many injuries and a lack of depth in key positions, while there is a feeling that more should have been done in the summer.
Players like Vinicius Jnr, Rodrygo, David Alaba, Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal and Aurelien Tchouameni are all currently on the sidelines, while others like Bellingham and Mbappe are struggling to find form.
Publicly the club has pointed to the busy schedule and lack of rest as the reason for so many injuries, but privately they are investigating why the team is struggling physically, with Real's fitness coach Antonio Pintus under fire.
However, Ancelotti continues to support his players and the report claims the 65-year-old is ready for the challenge and is keen to turn the situation around.
He hasn't been helped by Mbappe's disappointing start to his time at the club, something that has been a major talking point.
The French star has scored nine goals in 18 games, but only one of those came in the Champions League and the beleaguered forward is yet to reach the heights many expected him to in the Spanish capital.
However, Ancelotti backed Mbappe after the defeat to the Reds, claiming he knew exactly what was needed to get him back to his best.
“It has often happened that attackers have difficulty scoring,” he said. 'There is a medicine that requires patience. It's a difficult moment for him, especially after missing the penalty. Everyone should support him.'
He added: “He may be a little lacking in confidence. When things don't go your way, you should feel like you have to play simple.
'It seems a bit at the moment, but you can't judge him on missing a penalty. All players miss penalties. It must continue to work well. We have to be patient because he is an extraordinary player.'
After Sunday's match against Getafe, Real will face difficult away games at Athletic Bilbao and Girona next week, where they want to be at their best again.
