Barcelona has not completely hammered in a 'for sale' sign for Camp Nou, but they have certainly filtered information in the local press that they are open to business when the right deal comes on their way. One of the names that seems to be returning to the headlines time and time again is Ronald Araajo.
It seemed as if he was on his way from Barcelona in January, with Juventus pursuing him, and even after signing a new deal until 2031, speculation continued this summer this summer. In May, Hansi Flick stated that he counted on Araujo this season, and in June Arajo said that his intention was to continue in the club. Nevertheless, talking about a sale continues, where Barcelona needs income. On Wednesday, Flick made it clear that Arajo was not going anywhere, and Sport said that this is due to two important turning points.
Had Araujo left Barcelona's plan to get Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen, who had no contract. The German international had agreed a deal with Barcelona, but with the Catalan side unable to guarantee that they would continue, he decided to accept an offer from Bayern Munich in May.
In the meantime, Araujo undoubtedly wanted guarantees about his role from the player's point of view. Flick told Araujo that he appreciated that he has several attributes to start Pair Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi, and sees an important role for him in the future, at what point Araujo decided not to listen to the interest that came up.
The most recent story about a potential departure speculated that if Araujo believes that he could play a reduced role again, he could reconsider his future. That may be the case, but it seems unlikely that at the earliest it will come before January, and probably next summer, with movements in the mid -season that generally prove a more difficult affair.
