Hansi Flick insists on Barcelona pursuing defensive summer signing

Barcelona has started drawing up plans for the summer transfer window, and although it is the responsibility of Deco, Hansi Flick is determined to have a big word. The expectation is that not many signing sessions will be made, especially in view of the fact that there are still significant financial problems at the Catalan club despite their return to the 1: 1 rule of La Liga in January.

Deco wants a new attacker to be brought in, but for film his focus is on defensive recruits. Jonathan Tah is expected to sign as a free agent after the expiry of his Bayer Leverkusen contract, and next to him another defender should come in – if Barcelona's head coach gets his way.

As reported by Sport, Flick Barcelona wants to bring in a new full-back-specific-specific, if he is able to operate on both right and left.

Flick is clear that the defensive balance of Barcelona can be improved for large competitions, such as the 4-4 draw against Atletico Madrid earlier this week. His idea is that an ambidexter full-back will complete his team for the defensive perspective, and the club is once and a consequence of it they will go to the extreme to ensure that his request is honored.

At the moment, Barcelona already has a player who fits in this profile: Hector Fort. However, his lack of regular First team campaign suggests that he is not counted exaggerated by Flick for the time being, and there are even rumors that he could be sent on loan for the 2025-26 season to protect the regular playing time.

It will be interesting to see who Barcelona focuses on as full-back options for the summer. There are not too many options available that can play on both flanks, especially given that they do not want to spend too much if the player would arrive, would not do this as a starter, but as a backup option for Jules Kounde and Alejandro Bald.
