In recent weeks there has been considerable speculation about the future of Hansi film as the head coach of Barcelona. In particular, there have been reports about conversations that took place between the Catalan club and their manager with regard to the extension of his stay after 2026 – that is when his current deal rises.
Flick has commented on this issue in recent days, and although he has stated that he is not thinking too far in the future, a Relevalo report has justified this attitude and relates to President Joan Laporta.
Flick is very loyal to Laporta, whose presidential conditions end in 2026. And he is afraid to commit outside his current contract because he is not sure whether he would be supported by the other presidential candidates of Barcelona.
If Flick were to struggle to sign a new deal, this would be an extension of a year that would take him to the end of the 2026-27 season. And according to the report, this is when he intends to end his time as a head coach of Barcelona, because his idea is at this stage to manage the Catalan side for only three years.
It is noted that Flick, who is 60 years old, is planning to retire as soon as his time is over in Barcelona, because he does not have the desire to continue in football in another club (or national team). It means that his current route map would see him stay in Catalonia for another two years, after which he would walk away from the game with which he has been associated since the age of six.
For now, Flick will not think of anything else than the rest of the current season that he hopes to end with Barcelona who wins the Treble of La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey.
