Hansi Flick refusing to give up on Wojciech Szczesny after Valencia error

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick could only choose one error in their 7-1 LA Liga Home victory on Valencia.

La Blaurgana followed their 5-4 UEFA Champions League victory on Benfica with a goal-filled night in Catalonia.

After they have sealed their place in the Champions League last 16, Barcelona is now firmly focused on the Interior in the coming weeks, while Flick turned his team against Los Che.

One of the players to keep their place from the trip to Lisbon was Wojciech Szczesny despite the earlier comments from Flick about his role.

The former boss of Bayern Munich had indicated that his plan was to start Szczesny in European action with Inaki Pena as his competition no. 1.

That plan was changed against Valencia, in a large pre-game shock, after a rocky night in Benfica.

Szczesny admitted a penalty and clattered in Alejandro Bangde to allow another goal, but Flick stayed with him this weekend.

The experienced Schotstopper was saved by VAR against Valencia, after he had given away a result, but Flick will keep confidence with him for the time being.

“We needed players with fresh legs. It is incredible how they played, everyone was involved, “he said full -time.

'We have not yet given up on Tek [Szczesny] Yet he is important. I understand for Iñaki Peña that the situation is not the best, but we have decided to start Szczesny tonight after an internal meeting. “

With a place in the next round of the Champions League, Szczesny has to hold its place between the posts against Atalanta in the midweek, but the real question will concentrate on Alaves on Alaves next weekend.

Pena had started with the last 14 consecutive league matches prior to Flick's call to go with Szczesny, after the seasonal injury of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but the situation has now changed and he will have to fight to convince the manager to his his Start references.
