There is considerable uncertainty about Barcelona's plans for the following season when it comes to the backline, with a number of players in difficult contract situations. It seems almost certain that Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez will be part of their team next season, and that Barcelona will try to shop Andreas Christensen, but the rest remains an unknown.
Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona has reassured a different center-back, will sign at the club in the summer, while Ronald Araujo has assured that he will be in the club for years, after signing a new contract until 2031. But he is said to have a release tray of € 65 million in the opening stadia of the transfer market.
Another that is uncertain about his future is Eric Garcia. The 24-year-old center-back was reinvented this season as a central midfielder and has become important for Hansi Flick in recent months, after he had persuaded him to reject an exit in the last two transfer windows.
However, Garcia is no longer a contract in the summer of 2026, and with director of Football Deco has determined not to allow players in the last year of the contract, this means that he is offered a contract renewal or is offered for sale. Sport explains that Flick has asked to renew Garcia. He considered him one of the players who developed the most during the course of the season, and Deco will follow his wishes. In the meantime, the player is apparently happy and has a 'guaranteed' place in the team.
The former Manchester City man, who arrived for free almost four years ago, made 32 performances this season, scored three times and once assists, while he is also sent on one occasion. In total he has collected 1,391 minutes of action, but it is noticeable in particular that Garcia participated in all seconds of their last 17 games.
