Hansi Flick sets out ‘risk-free’ Dani Olmo return plan

Hansi Flick does not take any opportunities to bring Dani Olmo back to his Barcelona team in the coming days.

The Spain International was not risked for the La Liga Weekend Trip to Leganes with the charges of Flick who wanted to stimulate their title leaders.

Olmo has been out of operation for more than two weeks, after having sustained a muscle injury in the victory over Osasuna on March 17, but Flick is convinced that his recovery schedule will remain on track.

The first assessment period was determined after three weeks and he could stand in line for a return away at Borussia Dortmund in midweek.

The Dominant 4-0 home victory of Barcelona in their quarter-finals first stage against the Bundesliga Giants means that Flick will rotate in Germany with most of the work already done.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, OLMO is progressing positively in its rehabilitation, with the Spain International being seen earlier this week in full training sessions.

With a full schedule on the horizon, however, Flick remains careful about the situation and the former head coach of Bayern Munich wants to get worse.

The current plan is to remember him for the team for the flight to Dortmund and to make a review closer to the start on April 15.

Flick will continue to adjust his team, to keep players fresh for the campaign run-in, and veteran striker Robert Lewandowski could be sent away on his old team.

Lewandowski currently has 11 Champions League goals this season, with Raphinha the top scorer of the competition at 12, but Flick is wary of overloading the veteran striker.

The recent form of Ferran Torres has been a real boost and he could start, but Olmo is expected to play a bench roll in Signal Iduna Park, with Flick hopeful to use it – depending on the flow of the game.
