Harry Maguire believes that the blame Premier League campaign of Manchester United is firmly with the players.
The Red Devils come to the end of what their worst Premier League campaign has ever been.
The men of Ruben Amorim are 16th in the top flight with only 10 wins from 36 games and a club record 17 defeats.
“It has been really difficult in the Premier League that we cannot hide from that,” Maguire told Sky Sports. 'It has not been good enough for this club.
'If you look at the table, it is embarrassing, especially for our players. We have to take responsibility because we have had two managers and many opportunities to win football matches and we just didn't do well enough this season.
'I think the past two months have been difficult because we have been to the Europa League and we have not played a permanent team in the Premier League. The managers had to change a lot, we had many injuries.
'Although we should do much better … For example, I can't remember that I played the last time I played in the Premier League for 90 minutes.
'We have to take the blame, because a club as a man United should not have nothing to play for two months left of the season. We are in the middle table with two more months left of the season and we have nothing to play for.
“That is our fault, we must take responsibility. That is certainly unacceptable, we are the fault and I know for a fact next season that we will improve a lot. '
