Harry Redknapp: Eddie Howe has a huge summer ahead

Newcastle fans waited for so long on a good knees that it would always be one to remember.

They may have forgotten what it was like to win a trophy, but not how to throw a party – as we all got to see two weeks ago.

That is just as good, because their Gaffer Eddie Howe is building something special, I think those supporters will have a lot to celebrate here.

Much bigger things than the Carabao Cup, with all due respect, because in my book that is just the beginning.

They will certainly not wait 70 years for the next domestic trophy!

I am not saying that the next stop is the Premier League title because they are three good signing sessions to push, such as Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal for a season – but they are getting closer.

Eddie, who was in the hospital yesterday after he felt sick during the week, will miss their collision against Manchester United today and I wish him a quick recovery.

And that also applies to all tone fans – who can certainly be seen that everyone who thought Eddie only kept the chair warm for a glamorous foreign name after the Saudis appointed him.

Whether that was the plan when they arrived, I don't know, but – four years later – the only way I can see Howe St. James' park leaves for the track in England.

The search for the replacement of Thomas Tuchel, when that day comes, will not take long, although I do not say that fans of Newcastle still have to worry.

That is for the future.

For now, the only thing that leads to this is the real one is not just another false start.

After the Saudis took over, the richest club in the world had a lot of talking, and when they made the Champions League two years ago, it certainly looked like this.

But despite the famous victory over Paris Saint-Germain, they never really got off the launch platform and when they finished from fourth in the Prem to seventh, there were quite a bit the worst for Eddie.

Fortunately, the people who matter never have the right man and now you will not find anyone who does not agree.

Actually there was a … the radio expert I heard who said that Howe was not the answer if they wanted to continue after the League Cup. What a load of shoemakers!

Of course they have to ensure that the Wembley victory is not a one-off and Newcastle can only prove that over time but what convinces me that they will be, the way Eddie did it.

From the beginning he said it would not be a trolley dashboard for the biggest names in football, just because he had the money and he proved it by making his first signing by Kieran Trippier.

Then Burn, there was something of a travel man, shortly after fans did not almost buzz at the new purchases.

However, ask them now, and you get a different answer. And don't forget that there is no shortage of stars in the team for everyone, the fact that most have become bigger in the tone than before, says a lot.

Alexander Isak is a world -class striker that you could place next to each other in the game, while Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali are first -class midfielders.

Anthony Gordon is one of the best wing players there are and the young full-backs Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall have won both England caps since signing.

But for me, Trippier has been the real star of the show and the leader who wants every manager.

The second stage of the semi -final was perfect evidence when he steamed in the first tackle and set the tone. Arsenal was never in it afterwards.

And burning is just incredible. From doing the rounds in places such as Yeovil, Birmingham and Wigan to Man of the Match in Wembley and an English cap. What a career!

Since then there have been more glamorous names – most of them, to be honest – but Eddie knew it had to start with characters. And they don't get bigger than the two.

He knows that there is also a huge summer and the top of the list must keep Isak, with a lot of big names in Europe that sniff around.

Securing a Champions League place will certainly help, and with five teams in it from England next season, there is a good chance that Newcastle is one of them.

Now those incredible Geordie fans dare to dream – and this time there might not be an rude awakening.
