Harvey Elliott has spoken after his good friend Tyler Morton left Liverpool and joined Lyon to a £ 15 million deal, with the midfielder who left to Anfield after 14 years
Harvey Elliott has sent an emotional message to his good friend Tyler Morton after the 22-year-old had completed a permanent step of Liverpool. Morton came to Liverpool at the age of seven and was a fan of the boys.
He came through the club's academy and made 14 senior performances, after making his competitive debut in 2021. Morton, however, has now left the club and a member of the French side Lyon in a £ 15 million deal.
And Elliott, who became good friends with Morton after he came from Fulham from Fulham in 2019, says he is “so proud” in the midfielder. In response to Lyon's announcement video, Elliott wrote about his Instagram story: “My brother @tylermorton6. So proud my mate !! earn it more than anyone else [two red heart emojis]. “
Elliott can also be moving this summer, with RB Leipzig hoping to sign him as a potential replacement for Xavi Simons.
Simons is about to join Chelsea for £ 60 million and Leipzig has contacted both Liverpool and Elliott during a movement. Elliott is a Boyhood Liverpool fan and is considered cautious to leave, but is willing to continue for the well -being of his career.
The 22-year-old made only six starts in all competitions last season and admitted that he is open to leave Anfield while in international service at England at the European Championship under 21.
“It's just a situation where I and the team have to have a conversation, because I am now coming an era where I am 22, I'm going to turn 23 next season,” said Elliott. “I don't really want to waste years of my career because it is a short career.
“You don't know what is going to happen. I have to think. I have to see if I am satisfied with doing what I do and how can I improve as a player, because that is the most important thing.
“I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that goes somewhere else, then it is a decision that I have to make and I just have to see what happens.
“Nothing ensures that I want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them too. But above all, it's only about what is best for my career.”
