Manchester City lost four games in a row before the international break and Guardiola's team got off to a slow start against Tottenham.
Manchester City's recent crisis resumed in the early stages of Saturday's Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur, who took a 2-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes. After four consecutive defeats before the international break, Pep Guardiola was on the eve of his worst ever run in his 17-year career as a head coach.
City lost four away games in a row between 30 October and 9 November, the club's worst run of results in eighteen years and only the second such spell in Guardiola's managerial career.
During his time in charge of Bayern Munich between 2013 and 2016, the former Barcelona boss saw the Baverians lose three consecutive Bundesliga games (0-2 against Bayer Leverkusen, 0-1 against Augsburg and 1-2 Augsburg), with a 3 -0 win. Champions League semi-final against Barcelona in May 2015.
The caveat, however, is that Bayern had already clinched the German league title and had taken their foot off the accelerator as they focused on the Champions League, which they ultimately failed to win.
After a League Cup defeat to Tottenham (1-2), Premier League losses to Bournemouth (1-2) and Brighton (1-2) and a UCL reverse by Sporting CP (1-4), losing to Spurs for The second time in a month would be the first time in Guardiola's career that he has overseen a five-match losing streak.
