Chris Wood praised the character of Nottingham Forest after they responded on Saturday from their thrashing in Bournemouth with a 7-0 routing from Brighton.
Wood's Hattrick led Forest to their greatest competition extraction (in every division) since he defeated Chelsea 7-0 in the city grounds at the top of the top in April 1991.
Lewis Dunk's own goal got Bos on their way before Morgan Gibbs-White brilliantly passed the ball past Bart Verbruggen from Anthony Elanga's Hoek.
Wood came on the score sheet just before the break before added two goals in five minutes after the interval to complete his hat trick before Neco Williams and replacement Jota Silva completed the score.
His Treble saw Wood became the first forest player to score a top -hat trick on the city grounds since Nigel Clough did this against QPR in December 1987.
Wood also scored 17 league goals this season, his outright almost ever in a single Premier League campaign. Only Stan Collymore (22 in 1994-95) scored more for Bos in a season in the competition.
However, Wood quickly emphasized the importance of his teammates in a victory that moved the Nuno Espirito Santo's being at points with second arsenal placed in the table.
“What a difference can make a week. After last week in the dumps,” Wood told TNT Sports, referring to the 5-0 loss in Bournemouth in the previous outing of Forest.
“It wasn't us, it wasn't like us, but today we were sure.
“It's all credit for the team. [Elanga] Puts it on a plate for me, so it makes my work easier every time. Then Morgs [Gibbs-White] gave me the punishment for the hat trick.
“It's fantastic, the boys did the excellent character to come back from last week. That's what we are about.”
Two of Wood's goals came from beautiful assists from Elanga, where the Swede also set up Gibbs-white for Forest's second.
Elanga is only the second forest player who delivers three or more assists in a single Premier League match, after Bryan Roy against Sheffield Wednesday in April 1995.
Only Chelsea -Duo Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson (12) have combined since the beginning of last season for more Premier League objectives than Wood and Elanga (11).
Elanga's 10 assists for Wood are the most player who has delivered a specific teammate during this period, and the forest attack praised the connection he has formed with the former winger of Manchester United.
“We know the relationship we have. We have that band, the connection, and he does excellent for me, and that can be seen in the statistics,” Wood said.
“A hat trick from Assists never goes unnoticed. The boy is on flames.”
