Real Madrid kept their bid alive to win the Club World Cup 2025 after throwing Juventus away in their round of 16 draw in Miami. Gonzalo Garcia scored the only goal of the game, which set up a quarter -final draw against Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey.
And in the aftermath of the events at the Hard Rock Stadium, Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso spoke about the media on various topics, according to Diario ALS. First, he discussed the performance against Juventus.
“The victory tastes very good. In this size in every game you go home or you will continue, and we want to continue. We are in the quarterfinals. The first half was good, we went from less, we could have scored more goals. We had no suffering.
Alonso spoke about Gonzalo, who scored three goals in four games at the Club World Cup. He also discussed whether Kylian Mbappe would replace the 21-year-old in the future, now that he returned after illness.
“I am happy for him, for the team, we call him to continue. He gives a very good performance, with goals and with everything he contributes. He benefits from the minutes he has.
“I am not going to think about the next game yet, I am focused on today. Day after day (Mbappe) will go back in rhythm. I talk to him every day to find out his feelings. We have three days to see how he is (for the quarterfinals).”
Fede Valverde, who was voted as a player of the match against Juventus, was also spoken by Alonso.
“He makes my life much easier. He is a top player, he is doing everything well, with pride, he drags his teammates with him.”
