Arne Slot has returned to Michael Owen's “Strange” claim that winning the Premier League will leave a “bitter taste” for Liverpool.
The Reds went to 12 points above Arsenal this weekend with eight more games.
While he is sitting in the Premier League, Liverpool has crashed from all three cup matches since January.
The Reds were defeated by Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup and Paris Saint -Germain in the Champions League -before he lost the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle last month.
During an interview with Virgil van Dijk, the former striker of Liverpool Owen suggested that his former club can get a “bitter taste” by only winning the Prem this season.
Reds -Schipper van Dijk, however, immediately hit back and said, “Well, I think we should change that story a bit.
“We are fighting for the biggest price of the season, we have worked so hard for it, 20 teams work so hard to be on top of the Premier League.
“We have eight games to go, we know what's at stake, we have to go for it, we have to fight, we have to enjoy the whole ride and let's look. As I said, it still looks very special in my eyes.

“It is still a possibility that this season will be very, very special.”
In anticipation of Liverpool to Fulham, Slot supported his captain.
