‘He’ll be a big loss’ –  Emi Martinez in tears as he waves goodbye to fans after Aston Villa’s final home game

Emi Martinez broke into tears while he knew goodbye to fans of Aston Villa after the victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

De Villans ended their last home game of the season with a 2-0 victory on the North London side.

Martinez, 32, held a clean magazine in the match against the Europa League finalists.

But at the end of the game there was little feast of the Argentinian goalkeeper.

The villaster could be seen in the eyes while he applaud the home crowd.

The former Arsenal -Aas is connected to a relocation of Villa Park with Saudi Arabia as a possible destination.

Sky Sports Pundit Jamie Redknapp said: “What a signature he has been.

“Great player, great keeper, but it looks like he waved goodbye.

“Trying to find someone to fill in that void will be very difficult.”

Roy Keane insisted that he would be a “big loss”.

He added: “He has been a good character, some people like him.

“He can sometimes be annoying with some of his antics.

“But he has been a great signature for them, he will be a big loss because it looks like he's saying goodbye.”

Manager Unai Emery was asked about the future of the keeper in his press conference after the game.

The Spaniard could not give any guarantees that Martinez would be in the club next season.

He said, “We'll see.

“Of course it's the last game here (of the season) and I don't know.

“We will see about the team, the players.

“Of course they respond to the field, the moment they respond and they are so focused on how we prepare and play every match.”

Martinez is always present in the Villa team since his £ 20 million transfer from Arsenal in 2020.

He joined the club after just a few months of regular first team football in the Premier League.

Since then he has become one of the best keepers in world football and won the World Cup in 2022.

The goalkeeper was also awarded the Yashin trophy in 2023 and 2024.

Martinez also posted a photo of himself on Instagram that looked emotionally while waving to the supporters.

He endorsed a message: “Thanks for all your support this season.

“We finished strong at home, but we still have a final to go.”

Emery also called Leon Bailey, who was also in tears with the full -time whistle.

He added: “Of course Leon Bailey now plays less because other players respond very well. They perform well.

“And we are going to play the last three points Manchester United. And for us it will be very important to prepare, to concentrate everyone.

“And of course we will see about everything, how we try to get better the next season.”
