According to exclusive reporting by journalist César Luis Merlo and Romano, 40-year-old Javier Mascherano will step down as head coach of Argentina U20 and take over as coach of Inter Miami. Subsequently, Argentinian media outlet TyC also confirmed that Mascherano will sign a three-year contract with Inter Miami.

The reporter stated that Mascherano will become the new head coach of Inter Miami. The club has already exchanged documents with the Argentinian, who will sign a long-term contract. Mascherano will resign from his position as head coach of Argentina U20 and coach Lionel Messi in his place.

Mascherano started his career at River Plate. In 2006, he landed in Europe and joined West Ham United. In 2007, Mascherano was loaned out to Liverpool, and a year later Liverpool bought out his contract for £20.25 million. Mascherano joined Barcelona in 2010. Until joining Hebei China Fortune in 2018, Mascherano played 334 games for Barcelona, ​​scoring one goal and providing eight assists.
