Mikel Merino devoted his late Arsenal – Double to his wife Lola – after he forgot to buy her a Valentine's Day.
The Spaniard, 28, rose from the bank to take both goals of the Gunners in their 2-0 win in Leicester.
After the game, Merino made a brutal admission while speaking with TNT Sports.
He said to reporter Becky Ives: “It is the first time in my career that I played as a striker. The manager said I had to use my strengths and I think I did that.”

In the 17-year-old Merino added: “He is a great player.
