Lionel Messi may no longer be at Barcelona, but he still keeps an eye on his former club. Now that the MLS season is over, he can take even more interest in Hansi Flick's side, who have had a strong campaign so far.
Speaking recently at an Adidas event (via MD), Messi shared his hopes for much success for Barcelona this season.
“I would like to see Barcelona win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and also the Champions League again. And in the years when it is not possible, he competes at least until the last moment.”
Messi also spoke highly of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, to whom he has often been compared over the past 12 months.
“There is a very good generation of young footballers who still have many years ahead of them. When I have to stay with someone, because of their age and their future, I have heard that they have chosen Lamine Yamal and certainly also me. Agree. It depends on him and many things because that is football, but it is there and without a doubt it has a great future.”
