MARC CUCURELLA's infamous Puma boots had a cheeky marketing slogan on them.
The 26-year-old Chelsea winger swapped his boots for another pair after slipping in the build-up to Tottenham's first two goals last Sunday.
After his side's 4-3 comeback win, the Spaniard posted a photo of his original boots in a trash can with the caption “Sorry Blues”.
Risking the wrath of Puma, Cucurella quickly deleted the image from his Instagram Story, but not before it had spread across social media.
The Chelsea stud wore a pair of Puma's new Future 8 boots with studs.
When he shuffled to the bench to change them after Dejan Kulusevski's goal, Cucurella switched to Puma's previous Future 7 edition.
The Future 8 boots retail for £220 per pair, with Puma claiming they improve “ultimate precision, adaptability and performance”.
During Sunday's match, Cucurella's pair also had a message on their heels.
Next to an exclamation point it read: “This boot may have leaked. We're used to it. Don't worry. Stay tuned.”
The date “03/03” was then followed.
Cucurella has not worn the Future 8s in training this week, ahead of the Blues Europa Conference League match against Astana tomorrow.
Instead he stayed with the Future 7s for sessions in Cobham.
After Sunday's game, Cole Palmer stopped mid-interview to ask Cucurella about his shoes.
The England star, 22, cheekily asked: “Yo Marc, the boots, where are they?”
Cucurella replied, “They're in the trash.”
In another Instagram post, the full-back joked: “It almost slipped away… but proud of the great team effort to turn things around.”
