‘Hilarious’… Fans react to Pillow Fight between UFC legends with combined age of 97

We may never see a more cheeky fight.

The world of combat sports has its traditionalists – those who follow mixed martial arts and boxing for the elite skills and technical displays of brightening. For those who fall into a different category, those of the completely bizarre, there is no shortage of options.

From controversial folding fights (the new obsession of Dana White) to bare boxing on shipping containers above water (thanks to Russia) to Jiu-Jitsu in cars ('Carjitsu', of course), the fighting game has its strange, comic and outright ridiculous corners.

However, the newest creation is perhaps the strangest of all.

UFC veterans Hector Lombard and Cheick Congo compete on Pillow Fight Championship

For those who grew up with their parents' tart to leave a brother or sister alone and to stop an attack of cushion attacks, we only have the sport for you.

The Pillow Fight Championship organized its newest event last Friday evening, with former UFC stands Cheick Congo and Hector Lombard who are fighting a sport that is so brutal that it should come up with disclaimers.

Congo fought Lombard in a super fight of a pillow on ESPN, with the Hush Super Fight Championship on the line. Stakes could clearly not have been higher for the two, who participated in sold -out arenas against some of MMA's biggest names.

Lombard has disabled Rousimar Palhares, Nate Marquardt and many others memorably during a 49-Vecht MMA career with fighting under the banners of the UFC, Deep, Pride and Bellator, where he was the inaugural middleweight champion.

'Lightning' did not need his heavy fists on Friday evening, because he effectively used a pillow to beat Congo (there is a sentence that I never expected to write).

The 50-year-old Frenchman also fought in both UFC and Bellator, where he is perhaps best known for one of the biggest comebacks of all time. Congo recovered to eliminate Pat Barry in 2011 after he had gone close to himself.

A fight between athletes with a combined age of 97 would usually get a considerable pushback, but we think that the veterans of the fighting game might be safe in this promotion.

Fans respond to UFC legends opposite a pillow fight

When clips from the two MMA animals launch cushions to each other in a ring that spread online, Combat Sports fans quickly gave their view of the bizarre sport. It is sufficient to say that views were split …

Many are on board and have some comic relief of the 'fight'.

“This is hilarious.”

“They should wear pajamas.”

“Would Jones return for a pillow fight with Aspinall.”

“That is actually funny. I can't be angry with them because they have fun.”

“Wow, I always wanted to see Lombard vs. Congo … and now we get it in pillow fights. Really the dream of a man.”

“The feeling that it would be much better if they had a pillow in every hand.”

“In the era of the 98-year-old Mike Tyson who loses a roasted loser, this is the best result for retired MMA hunters.”

However, others did not see the funny side.

“No, this is absolutely absurd and ridiculous.”

“This is a shameful man.”

“Stop it.”

“ESPN left boxing to broadcast this.”

“In addition to sad programming. ESPN value sinks lower.”
