Horror Hojlund and Zirkzee stats should convince Amorim to throw Rashford a lifeline if attacker ends up staying

Ruben Amorim may be convinced to throw Marcus Rashford a lifeline after witnessing terrible performances from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in Fulham.

Statistics show that the Manchester United pair had a night to forget, despite Amorim taking home all three points.

Lisandro Martinez's deflected shot was enough to seal the win at Craven Cottage.

But on the back end tonight, Amorim could likely be tempted to give Rashford another go-round, despite the England star being linked with a January exit.

But judging by the manager's comments post-Fulham, Rashford would need to step things up in training to be offered every olive branch.

Danish striker Hojlund started the game in West London with an immediate red flag above his head.

The former Atalanta star has featured in 48 Premier League games since his £64million move in 2023.

But he hasn't scored in 36 of those games – virtually an entire top season.

And Hojlund's last outing proved to be no different, as he once again failed to net.

Indeed, he did not have a single shot on goal on the night.

Hojlund also managed 17 touches of the ball – with just one of them in Fulham's penalty area.

And his passing fared slightly better too, with the striker completing six from just eight before going off in the 58th minute.

Hojlund was replaced by fellow Hitman Zirkzee, who has failed to impress since his £36.5million summer move from Bologna.

The Dutchman has just three league goals so far this term and, like Rashford, has also been linked with an exit.

But he is yet to be taken out of Amorim's squad and so was given another chance to prove doubters wrong tonight.

However, Zirkzee arguably had a worse game than Hojlund.

He also had zero shots on target, which prevented him from scoring.

However, unlike Hojlund, Zirkzee didn't even muster a single touch in the Fulham box.

And despite being considered the more technical of the two, Zirkzee managed just five passes all games – with one of them failing to reach his target.

Amorim will certainly be scratching his head as he looks for a solution at the top.

Rashford is the closest thing we have to a third striker.

And if the Englishman doesn't secure a dream move to Barcelona, he could still lead the line for the remainder of the season.

Rashford has also been strongly linked with a move to AC Milan.

While Aston Villa have been tipped as potential late suitors in the window.
