How close Magomed Ankalaev is to breaking incredible Jon Jones unbeaten streak

Magomed Ankalaev is about to be in the same conversation as Jon Jones as he prepares for the Main Event of UFC 313.

UFC Light Heavyweight Competent Magomed Ankalaev will come a step closer to writing history next to his upcoming title chase on UFC 313.

Ankalaev will compete against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira in the UFC 313 Main Event next weekend in Las Vegas. After his first career UFC title shot resulted in a draw at UFC 282, Ankalaev will watch Breedone Pereira and Reel in a new era in the light heavyweight division.

Pereira, Ankalaev and other light heavyweights are part of a new breed that has left since Jon Jones left the division. Jones is now the heavyweight title holder of the UFC after an undefeated line with 18 fighting during his several light heavyweight title.

Magomed Ankalaev close to passing Jon Jones' light heavyweight undefeated line

Ankalaev rose to a top light heavyweight competition after a loss in his UFC debut to Paul Craig in March 2018. Since then he has been unbeaten by his last 13 fights, including dominant victories over Thiago Santos, Johnny Walker and Anthony Smith.

Ankalaev would move a victory over Pereira on UFC 313 to a 14-field undefeated series in the light heavyweight division. After Jones defeated Dominick Reyes in his last light heavyweight title defense in 2020, he left the division on an 18-Vecht undefeated streak, a UFC light heavyweight record.

Although Ankalaev still needs a few victories to match Jones's UFC record streak, he is closest to someone who has come the record since Jones's holiday. Pereira, one of the best pound-for-pound hunters in the UFC today, has only collected an unbeaten line of five fights in the light heavyweight division.

Magomed Ankalaev promises to surpass Alex Pereira on UFC 313

Ankalaev is not lacking in trust prior to the biggest fight of his career at UFC 313. He has promised to surpass Pereira, one of the best attackers the UFC has ever seen, a daring claim for the March 8 Pay-per-View card .

After the appearance of Pereira on UFC 312, Ankalaev Pereira roasted like a 'Tiktok Chick' and mocked the dance movements of the Brazilian champion. Pereira initially expressed disinterest in the opposite view of Ankalaev for his next title defense, but the fight flourished in the long term.

Ankalaev earned the light heavyweight title shot by beating Aleksandar Rakić on UFC 308 in October. Before the Rakić fight, Ankalaev confirmed his place as a top light heavyweight competition by walking Walker in January 2024.

The UFC Light Heavyweight Division has been a bit of a carousel since Jones left the belt empty. In anticipation of UFC 313, Ankalaev wants to become the next potential dominant light heavyweight title holder.
